Lost Theory on the Ghost of Christian Shephard

I have a small (and by small I mean massive) obsession with the TV show Lost. I think I started watching it during season 2. Picked up season 1 on DVD and watched it in one week. You could say I was hooked. It did have it’s ups and downs, mostly downs in the middle that is until they decided to end the story. With the end in sight the show has been great in my opinion. Which brings me to the purpose of this post…

I had a lost moment in the shower this morning… and no it wasn’t about Jack and Sawyer wrestling. It’s a theory about the Man in Black/Smokey. I believe that the ghost of Christian Shephard as been the Man in Black the entire time we’ve seen him on the island.

I have a few things that might support this theory.

1) Back in Season 5 (I think) someone mentions to Jack that they have to bring John Locke back to the island with them. John’s body would take the place of Christian’s body in the second crash. Now we already know that Smokey takes the form of John after the second crash. Why not the first crash too? And take the form of Christian.

2) In the last episode (Lighthouse), Claire mentions something odd. Stating that her father told her that the Temple people have Aaron and so does her new friend Smokey. Why would Christian lie about that if he really is Christian? Unless he and John Locke are the same person and of course he wants the Temple people to die since they were Jacob’s followers.

3) I’m not sure if this counts but someone recently said something about the beach vs. the cave people (in season 1). Kind of a light vs dark thing again. Christian lead Jack to the cave and divided the Losties. Then some people died and they found the hatch.  I’m not sure why exactly they left the caves but they did. Also of note from Lostpedia: “The remains of two people known as Adam and Eve, nicknamed by Locke, were found in the cave and have been dead at least 40-50 years according to the deterioration of their clothing. They were carrying one black and one white stone. Jack took these stones and neglected to mention them when Locke asked what had been discovered.”

I ran this theory by my other Lost obessed friends. And my Wife had this to say: “What about the actual man in black we saw towards the end of season 5 when he was talking to Jacob”, if you remember it was from the 1800s (by the looks of that ship approaching) and that was the last time we actually saw him in that form.

Someone else mentioned: “Where is Christian’s body, though. Locke’s body was still there when Smokey inhabited it”. My response was “I’ll say polar bears ate him”
