Review: Ghost Rider

Filed under: HeroicWallpapers, Movie Reviews — Jim Murphy @ 2:49 pm

Last weekend I saw Ghost Rider. I didn’t have high hopes for it but I never could get into the comic either. I think it’s the whole motorcycle thing. It’s apart of him. Like Wolverine rides a motorcycle but it’s not linked to his healing or claws. But Ghost Rider can’t go anywhere without his bike. Just something I never really liked. So this review is going to be based on the movie, not how the movie ties into the comic. It may also contain spoilers, so you’ve been warned.

Ok why does Johnny like jellybeans? Can anyone explain that? It made no sense to me at all and they seem to forget about it after they mention it twice. Seems like an odd quirk to just ignore. Why even have it? It’s one thing that bugged me, moving on…

The movie itself wasn’t bad at all. Not “OMG GR8!”, but not Ultra Violet bad. It was an ok movie. Something you can wait for on DVD thats for sure. The special effects were good, surprisingly. You think about a live action flaming skull and kind of cringe a bit or maybe thats just me. But they pulled it off.

I also didn’t like Ghost Rider talking. I know he talks in the comics but I think it would have been so much more powerful if he didn’t say a word. I mean that jail scene was kind of lame. The one where he points to some kid and says “INNNNOOOCCCEENNNTT!!!”. Could of have just glanced at the kid and moved on while taking out everyone else who was guilty, we’d get the picture.

I also don’t get why the cowboy Ghost Rider (I actually think that Ghost Rider looks better than the Biker from Hell one) went with him just for a ride and then fade away. I mean I guess he felt like his job was done and he can move on to the next plane of existance. And they need some excuse to use the flaming horse again. But logically it doesn’t make sense, would anyone else use the last bit of supernatural powers they have on a 500 mile road trip? Has the man not heard of google maps?

Overall however I liked it. Not loved, but liked. I wouldn’t see it again (well maybe on DVD) but glad I did see it.

Score: C

  1. I thought Ghost Rider was great. The jellybean thing was kinda weird looking back but I like odd stuff like that just put in there for whatever reason. As far as him talking I think he he had to if e didnt talk it might not confuse you or me but the rest of the population might get confused and end up hating this quality movie. Oh well thats just my opinion. I am just happy my old lady liked a whole lot and I didint get stuck watching a chick flick that probly helped me like it even more lol. Thanks for your time, FDD
