Monkey Business - Review for King Kong
Over the weekend I went to see King Kong. Overall I liked it, there were some corny spots and some odd parts, but a very well done movie. Read on if you like spoilers.
Ok first the bad. The whole teaching a Giant Gorillia “sign language” for the word beautiful. I don’t think thats the real sign for it, but still he picked it up after he saying it just once? Come on! I don’t even think I’d remember it. Another part also at the end was the Jack Black reaction to seeing Kong on the ground, he just seemed unemotional, kind of forced. Maybe it was me. And also in New York what kind of ice was that? How can a 25 foot tall Gorillia not break that ice?
But thats about the only things I didn’t like, and for a three hour movie if thats all I can come up with it’s gotta be decent. Kong himself was very well done, we’ve come along way from Hulk. Had some random parts where you knew it was CG, but not bad over all.
I also remember people complaining about the first hour of the movie… what was so wrong about it? Do people not care about the story anymore? If thats the case go download the trailer, it has shots of Kong all over it. There you’ve seen him. That whole first hour sets up the movie, the motivations for some of the characters. So that towards the end they bearly needed any dialog.
So to wrap this up go see it, go see it now, don’t wait for DVD.
