Heroes V. Lost
I’ve been watching Heroes on NBC when it first started. Matter of fact I made a post about it last year. Anyway, I’m really into this show. The writing is fun, the acting is decent, the effects are kind of hit or miss, but the tag lines I think are submitted by 5th graders. “Save the cheerleader. Save the World.” “Someone flies. Someone dies.”, they can’t do better? But that seems to be the only thing I don’t like about the show. I also like Smallville so maybe a tv critic I shouldn’t be. Maybe I should get to the point now.
Spolierish stuff ahead maybe Last night I watched lost on my Tivo and then Heroes live. My god what a difference. Lost seems to move at a snails pace. While Heroes goes full throttle.
On Lost it’s been three seasons and I feel like I’ve learnt nothing. Well maybe not nothing, we kind of know why the plane went down. But we’re not sure why there were so many survivors from a crash like that. They seem to completely ignore the fact that everyone was calling Walt special and now he’s gone because he was getting too old too quick. We know people are running experiments, not sure why really or who the leader answers to. Is it some kind of cult? We had a hatch but thats over with pretty much. Now there’s a dog with a key that they make the overweight guy chase after. And some guy who can see that Charlie is going to die. There’s more questions than answers and it’s getting frustrating. Most shows are even boring now. Last last episode I didn’t like at all. All we found out was that the blonde girl (Juliet) was on trial and about to be killed by her peers until Jack told Ben “Ok, I’ll help you”. Oh and Kate and Sawyer don’t seem to be getting along.
Now on Heroes we know a whole bunch. We know the powers are some kind of evolution (much like mutants in the marvel universe) . And they have to do with their brains. We know how the serial killer Sylar gets his powers. We know who Clair’s real parents are. And we are getting a better understanding of Peter’s powers. And last week we got more information on Clair’s dad. Who he works for (Hiro’s dad it seems) and his history with the invisible English guy. Seems like they covered a boat load of information and it’s not even the end of the first season.
