A friend of mine over the holiday showed me these clips of trailers totally redone to make it seem like a different movie. For example the Shining trailer makes it seem like a family movie. Here’s a link to that and the rest of the trailers. Just some more examples: The West Side Story horror movie, The Titanic horror movie, The Parent Trap lesbian love story and I think a few more.
Over the weekend I went to see King Kong. Overall I liked it, there were some corny spots and some odd parts, but a very well done movie. Read on if you like spoilers.

Seems Catwoman has a bun in the oven… or will have one soon.
I don’t follow Catwoman at all… or batman for that matter. Are they still a “thing”? Be interesting to see who the papa is, not interesting enough to buy it… but still.
Lots of comic movie news so I thought I’d put it in one post
Bitter Lex?
IGN Comics posted this little nugget from a Wizard Mag
Spacey takes over the role from another two-time Oscar winner, Gene Hackman, who played Luthor in the Christopher Reeve films.
“To me, it’s one of those great, iconic parts,” Spacey informed Wizard during a set visit to Sydney, Australia. “(Director Bryan Singer’s) been very attentive and respectful to the genre and what the fan base really wants, but he also brings a new direction to the character and how people deal with each other. This film is a much darker Lex than the Gene Hackman character. This is a bitter Lex. This is a Lex after a long time in prison. But there’s still a lot of humor to it.”
I’m glad we’ll have a darker Lex, thats one of the things I like so much about Smallville is the evil Lex comes out now and then.
Ghost Rider Revealed Today!
SHH had this to say:
Columbia Pictures will launch the first reveal of Ghost Rider on Tuesday (Dec. 20) at 12:00pm (noon) PST! The studio will update the film’s official website at GhostRider-Movie.com with a 10 second piece in which you’ll see the blazing Ghost Rider for the first time. The Flash animation of the Ghost Rider will also be worth checking out.
Watchmen a WB movie
SHH is reporting that the WB has the rights to the Watchmen movie. I really really hope they don’t make this into a catwoman-like movie.
Not sure if anyone knows of “Lying In The Gutters”, but its pretty much a comic book rumors article published on mondays, its pretty good. Some rumors are dead on and others never happen, still a fun read. Anyway here’s some highlights from this weeks article.
LEATHER BOUND
Batman analogue created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch for “Stormwatch,” before he made “The Authority” title his own and Mark Millar and Frank Quitely got him splashed across the world media as a gay icon, The Midnighter… is getting his own series from Wildstorm. There. Nothing like a ridiculously long run on sentence to announce an LITG scoop.
But, nevertheless, this is the first solo superhero series from the DC Universe starring an openly gay character. Trust it to be the one who runs around in leather all the time.
I haven’t read this in awhile, but I always liked Midnighter. He’s like a more pissed off Batman who happens to like men… so REALLY like a pissed off Batman with too much robin time.
GREEN MEMORY
Talking of new series, Marvel recently announced “Busting out from the pages of THE INCREDIBLE HULK, Doc Samson gets his first mini-series!”
Aside from the four-issue Marvel mini-series “Doc Samson” from 1996, of course, written by modern Marvel wonderboy and tenterrific Dan Slott, no less.
Mind you, even Dan probably wants to forget that one…
I can’t even get into the Hulk anymore how can I get into a weaker (I mean by both strength and character wise) character?
Found this story on IGN Comics.
According to Turner, the movie follows “a young Magneto. It opens up with a 14-year-old Magneto being abducted and put into Auschwitz… it’s made for a 28-, 29-year-old actor. And then it tracks on how he seeks vengeance on the Nazis who killed his parents in the camps.”
“And in the same way — a la Anakin Skywalker, Leatherface, any of these iconic characters — what was interesting for me [about Magneto] and what will be interesting for the audience is, ‘All right, now I understand why he did that thing. Does it make me love him more?’ Maybe not, but… it definitely makes me understand it more.”
They’re going for the “How did that bad guy get so bad?” angle. I love Magneto’s back story, I think its what makes him one of the better Marvel villains. But the average movie goer isn’t going to care much, unless they’ve watch the other 3 X-Men films. Like with the Star Wars movies you had fans of the movies who weren’t even born when the orginals where made. With this Magneto film you won’t have that 20 year span to gain fans. But you will have tons of comic geeks so maybe that’ll make up for it. Or perhaps I’m thinking too much.
So I was talking with one of my friends and we came up with a Patriots Drinking game, you could modifiy this for any NFL team I guess.
- 1 for everytime MANKINS is mentioned or seen on screen
- 2 for every comparison of Brady to Joe Montana
- 1 for every Simms complaint… 5 if it involves a snowball
- 1 for every time someone calls Belichick a genius
- 3 for everytime they mention a former coach… 5 if its Rod Rust
- 2 for every Dillion fumble
- 20 if someone makes a point of how ironic that a team once owned by Remington plays at Gilette Stadium
- 3 for everytime they mention someone that isn’t playing in the current game… 10 if they say they’re washed up
- 1 for every promo
- start out drunk if the game is on fox
- 2 for every Maddenism (Saying a noise “Wap”, “Boom”, “Pow”)… -1 if its from Phil Simms
Comics Continuum had this to say about an upcoming Smallville Episode
Cyborg will be appearing in a February sweeps episode of Smallville on The WB.
“We have always liked this character from the Titans,” series executive producer Al Gough told The Continuum. “We thought he had an interesting dilemma: Am I man or machine? Have I compromised my humanity? Will I find love in this condition?
“The same themes I always loved in Robocop.”
No word yet on casting. The episode will likely be titled “Cyborg.” Cyborg follows Flash and Aquaman as DC heroes guest-starring on Smallville.
Gough is also executive producing the Aquaman pilot movie with partner Miles Millar. He said the lead role has not been cast yet.
“We are still scouring the seven seas, and a few countries, including Australia, the UK and Canada,” Gough said. “We’ve sifted through literally hundreds of auditions trying to find lightning in a bottle like we did with Tom Welling. I’ve been impressed with the talent pool, we’ve seen a lot of very interesting guys.”
I would think you could do more interesting people. We’ve kind of already had a robot on the show, an alien robot but still. And yes I know Cyborg isn’t a robot. And why does every future hero hang out in Smallville for a spell? Why can’t Clark meet them in Metropolis or something.
I found this on what I think is Jim Lee’s blog. It seems he and a few of his friends(?) post on this blog. Anyway they’re having a showdown between him and Tunner. The subject is Nightcrawler vs. Harley Quinn. Check it out and go vote!
